Match Report
Stamford Boys-U14A vs  The Leys School
On: Saturday, 19 Jan 2019
Venue: Away

The boys were travelling to Cambridge with confidence after their 6-0 win over Uppingham in the previous week, but this wasn’t going to be as much of an easy game to win.

We had a very strong start to the game scoring 3 goals in the first 5 minutes, leaving the opposition shocked, and feeling the need to bounce back. The first goal was scored by Archie, picking up his first goal of the season. The second goal, after an excellent last ditch tackle from Is’haq, Rohan, from the edge of the D managed to smack the ball over the Goalkeeper into the top right hand corner to make the score 2-0, also picking up his first goal of the season, and the third yet again converted by Rohan to make score 3-0, and that is how it stayed, up until the half time whistle.

Team talks by Mr. Williams were to keep up that same intensity we started off with, and not to let us lose this game.

The second half was underway and unfortunately our intensity did not maintain, our performance dropped and we were struggling to get into the oppositions half, The Leys had upped their game. Some great saves from Billy kept us in the game and some great defense. Until the last 10 minutes, the score changed, the first goal for The Leys, and very shortly after a mistake at the back led to their second goal, put away very well.

This left the score 3-2 at the final whistle, a well fought win for the team and maintaining our win streak.
