Match Report
Stamford Girls-U13A vs  Lincs County U13 Tournament
On: Wednesday, 14 Nov 2018
Venue: Away

On Wednesday 14th November the U13 A hockey team traveled to Lincoln to compete for, and defend their County Championship status.

The format was simple and the strategy clear: win every game to secure a sure spot of progressing to the Regional Rounds of the National Schools Competition!! We had 4 schools to outwit and the team set to task, winning their first game against Bourne Grammar 6-0. P Phelan and E Stones secured two goals each with M Hindmarch and C Packer scoring one each cementing a convincing and hearty score. Match 2 saw us start with a solid and confident performance but Lincoln Minster were equally as quick and strong from the outset. The Stamford team dug deep, changed tactic and began to dominate once again with a hat trick from C Dean and two follow up goals form C Packer and M Hindmarch. Our next match began to test the team’s fitness levels with a few more threats offered from St Hughes that we would have liked, but again the resilience from the Stamford team shone through and we left the pitch relieved and grateful with another victory (3-0: E Stones 2; P Phelan 1). Our final opponents, William Farr withdrew from playing against us and so Stamford were crowned County Champions again! We are looking forward to the Regionals at Bedford Hockey Centre on Thursday 29th November!
