The U18 Girls 1st XI took on Lincoln Minster School in their first round of the National Schools competition. After taking the game to penalty strokes last year against Spalding the girls knew they needed to get goals on the score sheet as soon as possible. Under the leadership of Captain Sophie Skelton, and with the voice of Emilie Morris in mid-field, the intensity of the game was the highest the girls have demonstrated so far this season. The first goal of the game was scored within the first 90seconds, and with this under their belts the girls went on to score another 11! Six goals from Sophie Skelton, four from Maeve MacDonald and one each from Georgie Richardson and Evie-Jones Best resulted in a final score of 12-0 being recorded.

Despite the final score line many opportunities were missed and the girls have much to work on before their regional round on 10th October.

The girls played Will Farr in a friendly as the second game of the day. This opportunity gave coach Matt Bartell the chance to try new tactics, different strategies and change formations. The final score of 7-0 showed the girls how they can change their game play when needed, but also highlighted that they must play their best hockey at all times, and set the tempo of the game when the opposition might not be challenging them fully. A skill that the must take through to the Regional round to score goals early in tournament conditions.
