Match Report
Stamford 2nd XI Girls vs  Felsted School
On: Saturday, 08 Sep 2018
Venue: Away

The 2nd team began their season away at Felsted and with this fixture having a reputation for being tough the girls went into the game nervous but excited with what this new season and new group of players could bring to the table.

The match started with Felsted applying lots of pressure to Stamford, however good structure, marking and composure prevented Felsted from making any of their chances count early on. The rest of the first half was dominated by Felsted who had a number of circle entries, chances on goal and penalty corners but they still couldn't score due to a number of good saves by Lucy Porteous and defending by the rest of the team. With about 10 minutes to go before half time Felsted broke the deadlock with a goal that Stamford were unlucky to not keep out. However, despite going 1-0 down Stamford did not let it phase them and through a quickly taken free hit by Emily Ferguson while Felsted where still setting up, she found Annabelle Dallas free in the circle who slotted the ball in the corner to put Stamford level.

Stamford looked the better side throughout the second half and chances from Kitty Alcorn and Olivia Fairburn-Wright nearly gave Stamford the win late on.

The team voted Lucy Porteous player of the match who made a number of key saves and a fantastic stick save late in the second half to prevent Felsted from winning and the girls came away very happy with a 1-1 draw.
